PPWR and EUDR Update

DutchBoxx and the PPWR

DutchBoxx is well prepared for the arrival of the new European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). For the majority of our product range, we are already able to supply PPWR-compliant packaging. Only for a limited number of items are we still awaiting additional data from a few suppliers.

As part of our obligations as a manufacturer, we make EU declarations of conformity available on request. We are working towards sending these documents automatically with every order. This will further simplify the process for both our customers and our organisation.

Our progress on PPWR compliance is partly the result of the way we produce. DutchBoxx manufactures recyclable corrugated packaging using water-based adhesives and inks. As a result, our products are already well aligned with the principles of the new European legislation, which centre on sustainability, recyclability and resource-conscious production.

With this approach, DutchBoxx anticipates changes in the packaging market in good time and offers customers packaging solutions that are ready for the future.

DutchBoxx and the EUDR

For the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), too, DutchBoxx is actively mapping out exactly which role we play in the supply chain and which obligations follow from it. The primary due diligence obligation lies with our corrugated board suppliers, who qualify as “operators” under the EUDR. They are responsible for preparing and submitting the required due diligence statements (DDS) and the underlying documentation on origin in the European TRACES system.

DutchBoxx acts as a downstream party in this chain. This means that we carefully check the DDS references and EUDR documentation provided by our suppliers, register them internally and, where relevant or at a customer’s request, pass them on to our customers. This mainly requires close coordination with our board suppliers and robust internal record-keeping, but it does not pose any substantive obstacle to our business operations.

Exactly how this process will work in practice depends partly on any further clarification of the EUDR and on how our suppliers make the required data available to us. DutchBoxx is following these developments closely, so that we can inform our customers about the EUDR compliance of our corrugated packaging in a timely and transparent manner.

If you have any questions about the PPWR, the EUDR or our corrugated packaging, please contact our sales department. We will be happy to help you find the most future-proof solution for your packaging.
