As a road user, you have undoubtedly seen the beautiful DutchBoxx building along the A7 near Heerenveen. As a manufacturer of corrugated cardboard packaging and supplier of packaging materials, ‘We boxx it all’ is the motto of the Frisian family business. Thanks to automation, more volume is produced with the same number of people. Director Piet Stilma has the floor.
You would not immediately expect a production company with 28 employees to have its own ICT department, but nothing could be further from the truth. It is one of the reasons that DutchBoxx sees its output increase, while the number of colleagues has remained the same for several years. “We are automating quite a bit,” Stilma begins, “think of the software in our office and within production, but also thanks to EDI connections with our main suppliers. We make it easy for ourselves, but we also offer added value to the customer. For example, we are rolling out an online calculation system in May, something that was developed by our ICT colleagues themselves.”
