PPWR and EUDR Update

DUTCHBOXX and PPWR: Prepared for the new European packaging legislation

DUTCHBOXX is well prepared for the arrival of the new PPWR legislation. For the majority of our product range, we can already supply PPWR-compliant packaging. Only for a limited number of items are we still awaiting additional data from some suppliers.

As part of our duty to provide information as a producer, we make EU declarations of conformity available upon request. At present, we are working on a process to automatically include these documents with future orders. This will further simplify the process for both our customers and our organization. Our progress in PPWR compliance is largely the result of our production methods. DUTCHBOXX produces recyclable corrugated cardboard packaging using water-based glue and ink. This ensures that our products already align closely with the objectives of the new European regulations, which focus on sustainability, recyclability, and material-conscious production.

With this approach, DUTCHBOXX anticipates changes in the packaging market in a timely manner and offers customers packaging solutions that are ready for the future.

DUTCHBOXX and EUDR

DUTCHBOXX is also actively assessing our role in the supply chain with regard to the EUDR and the obligations this entails. The primary due diligence responsibility lies with our corrugated cardboard suppliers, who are considered ā€œoperatorsā€ under the EUDR. They are responsible for preparing and submitting the required due diligence statements (DDS) along with the supporting origin documentation in the European TRACES system.

Within this chain, DUTCHBOXX acts as a downstream party. This means that we carefully check the DDS references and EUDR documentation provided by our suppliers, register them internally, and, where relevant or requested by customers, pass them on to our clients. This mainly requires proper coordination with our cardboard suppliers and a robust internal administration, but it does not pose any substantive obstacle to our business operations.

Exactly how this process will look in practice will depend partly on further clarifications of the EUDR and on how our suppliers make the required data available to us. DUTCHBOXX closely monitors these developments so that we can inform our customers in a timely and transparent manner about the EUDR compliance of our corrugated cardboard packaging.
